Miami International Airport welcomes record holiday passengers
On December 23rd, Miami International Airport (MIA) welcomed a record 194,866 single-day passengers. Beginning December 21, Miami welcomed an average 170,000 daily passengers, an 11% increase from last year’s record holiday travel season.
Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava commented “These record-breaking numbers prove once again how important MIA is to our tourism industry and our local economy, where one out of every four jobs is directly or indirectly supported by our airport. I am also proud to see MIA continue to provide the high level of customer service that made it one of the best airports in North America this year, according to the J.D. Power 2023 Airport Satisfaction Study.”
Happy New Year! Together let’s make 2024 a year of shared success and innovation.
We are so grateful for your support and trust in our services. 2023 was our best year to date. We saw increased throughput from our Duty Free and Travel Retail partners and met their requirements to fulfill of Point of Sale (POS) merchandise. We grew transportation services last year for the pharmaceutical industry and solidified our transportation partnerships with fellow WCA Agents, among other milestones. We made a number of infrastructure improvements to our facility, our forklifts, and our technology – cameras, a new dimensioner, and WiFi upgrades.
We built our outreach by following our 4 Pillars – God and Family, Health and Education, Community, and WTDC. Through our support of organizations such as Lotus House Women’s Shelter, Live Like Bella, and His House Children’s Home we’ve really engaged our employees and now our clients to meet the needs in our community. We’ve built meaningful partnerships with FIU Religious Studies and the FIU College of Business. And we’ve committed ourselves to environmental initiatives like recycling and Zero Waste to Landfill – more to come on that and our Sustainability initiatives in 2024.

His House Pajama Drive
On December 19, WTDC dropped off over 100 pajamas to His House Children’s Home for our 9th Annual Pajama Drive! Thank you to our employees and corporate sponsors for your generous donations.
This year, His House asked that we donate pajamas for girls ages 12-17. We are blessed to continue to support the mission of His House Children’s Home which is to restore the lives of children from newborn to 18 years of age.
Thank you to WTDC Logistics Manager Ginger Diez for your commitment and dedication to supporting the community!
PortMiami announced this week they have surpassed the 1 million TEU mark for the 9th consecutive year.
FDOT freight truck parking site feasibility study
Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is conducting a freight truck parking site feasibility study looking at 16 sites in Miami-Dade County. This truck parking site study scheduled to finish in 2024 addresses sites to fill a current need of 3,400 additional truck parking spaces.
This need was identified in a supply and demand survey last year, with an estimated 12,190 daily truck parking spots in demand. FDOT noted that land value in urban areas and especially South Florida poses a challenge. They hope to bridge that gap through federal funding so that Miami-Dade County has sufficient freight truck parking.
